canada: pro terminator seeds?
FYI: Terminator seeds refer to genetically modified (GM) seeds that produce plants which can't re-produce (think Jurassic park). A moratorium was declared on them a while back from fears that potentially the GM seeds could cross into natural seeds and make them infertile too. Furthermore, it makes framers entirely dependent on biotech companies to provide the means to grow food. Scary...
"A confidential document leaked today to the NGO ETC Group reveals that the Canadian government will attempt to overturn an international moratorium on genetic seed sterilisation technology, known universally as Terminator seeds. at a United Nations meeting in Bangkok 7-11 Feb 7-11. Even worse, the Canadian government has instructed its negotiators to "block consensus" on any other option."

According to The Guardian the Canadian negotiation team is unavailable for comment at this time.
Why are the pushing this forward?
protectors of freedom
As the self-proclaimed protectors of freedom, it really scares me that many people in the US do not see the hypocrisy in attacking someone for expressing their belief. Not to mention that I agree with the guy on many points.
An essay written by a prof at U of Colorado expresses what many people understand about the Sept 11 attacks. They were bound to come. The prof who wrote it has now received many death threats, people are clammoring for him to resign, he's under attack from the conservative news, and the University is apparently contemplating firing him (a tenured prof!) for expressing his views.
Un-frickin-believable
